The
Bass Mekanik (a.k.a. Neil Case), Florida's premiere pioneer of Bass
music, is the most recognizable name in car audio today. His reputation
for the lowest, loudest, baddest, yet cleanest sounding Bass CDs
on the market has truly made him number one in the Bass arena.
The Bass Mekanik
grew up in Jamaica where he spent much of his time working with
many famous reggae artists, including Peter Tosh, Jimmy Cliff, Toots
and Maytals, and Inner Circle before coming to the USA. He now resides
in South Florida working as a producer in the Bass music scene and,
along with Pandisc Records, has been at the forefront of the Miami
Bass sound from its inception. In addition, he has written and produced
tracks with other Florida based artists such as DJ Laz, and engineered
almost the entire Maggotron/DXJ catalogue and many other classic
bass tracks such as "The Bass That Ate Miami" and "I Seen Your Boyfriend."
More recent collaborations include a DJ Icey remix of "Bass Mechanic"
featured on the Bass Mekanik's 1999 release Bass Mekanik V.5.0.
The Mekanik's
first release, Quad Maximus, was the first CD of its kind to offer
a test section, something never before seen in car audio music.
Max Killahertz and Audio Toolbox are also loaded with competitive
SPL/dB test tracks containing high frequency breakdowns, sine bombs
and numerous other test signals designed to tweak home and especially
car audio systems. Sonic Overload serves as yet another groundbreaking
creation by the Mekanik on the Bass front as a double CD set combining
crossover genres of Trip Hop, Freestyle and Drum and Bass on disc
one with the ultimate SPL and car audio tests to date on disc two.
Sonic Overload also features the world renown Champion Team Gates
Bronco on the cover. Alma Gates' Ford Bronco, the world's loudest
vehicle, has become closely identified with the Bass Mekanik, winning
time and again displaying the sonic power of the Gates Bronco with
the Mekanik's music. It can be seen again on the cover of the Bass
Mekanik's fifth release, Bass Mekanik V.5.0.
Year
after year the Bass Mekanik has received favorable reviews by the
likes of Car Audio Stereo Review, DMA (Dance Music Authority), DJ
Times and URB magazines. With his groundbreaking test tracks and
heavy bass combined with careful attention to clarity and tunefulness,
the Bass Mekanik has established an unparalleled reputation as the
most trusted and respected artist in car audio today.
